Founded in 1931 by Alois Kober, AL-KO has become a global player over the last 80 years currently comprising of more than 40 businesses across 30 countries. The AL-KO Group today employs over 3,500 people worldwide covering a number of business divisions including – Vehicle Technology, Garden & Hobby, and Aftermarket Products. AL-KO designs and develops innovative products renowned for their ease of use, powerful technology, attractive design and outstanding performance and dynamics. All AL-KO employees take great pride in the quality products they manufacture.

AL-KO uses very modern production techniques and machinery in all their factories and have been consistent in manufacturing high quality products that have exceeded the expectations of their customers.

AL-KO International – Celebrating 25 years in Australia

In Australia AL-KO has a long and proud history spanning back to 1946, when Hornby Engineering was founded and started to produce axles in South Melbourne. In 1974 this company was acquired by Girlock and with the acquisition of two other companies in Sydney and Brisbane it became Australia’s largest company in its field. In 1986 the German AL-KO Kober Group acquired the company which is became known as AL-KO International signalling the company’s involvement in Australia and New Zealand.

AL-KO’s strong growth in Australia over the last two and a half decade’s has been driven by strategic product range expansion and innovation enhancing AL-KO’s position as the market leader in its fields. After 25 years in Australia AL-KO now has an Australian head office and main manufacturing facility located in Melbourne, with further factories and offices in Sydney and Brisbane as well as Auckland NZ
